This is the follow on book to Welcome To New Haven. It can be read as a stand alone, but reading the previous one first, helps with the background story.
Emily Edwards has moved to Seattle, WA, to start a new life.
After a disastrous relationship, and finishing her degree, she's looking forward to a fresh start.
Swearing off men, she can't help but think about a certain somebody that got her riled up a few months before.
She finds work for an investment company and is really happy with her job, until she meets the boss...
Nick has spent the past year taking each day as it comes. After the night that he can't forget, he buries himself in his work.
He takes on a new assistant, that his secretary interviews on his behalf, and he looks forward to seeing how they react to him.
Will she agree to stay and work for him? Or will she punch him in the face and walk away?
Excerpt
It was less than ten minutes before somebody got off on their floor and Emily heard them approaching Diane’s desk.
“Good morning Di. How are you today?” A man’s voice said.
Emily felt a shiver down her spine as she recognised who the voice belonged to.
Nick.
She looked up and, sure enough, he was standing there happily chatting to Diane. Before she realised what she was doing, she got out of her seat and stormed towards him.
“What are you doin’ ‘ere?!” she said with a snarl.
“Hello to you too.” He replied with a smirk.
Diane’s mouth was hanging open in surprise and her face had paled.
“I’m here to go into that office.” He said, pointing to Mr. Lake’s room.
Emily wondered why he was there to see him and what unfortunate circumstances had him within two feet of her.
“It’s ok Di, everything’s fine.” He said quietly with a wink.
Emily was about to tell him not to speak to Diane when he suddenly turned and walked to Mr. Lakes’ office. He even had the cheek to go straight in!
Emily marched in behind him.
“What the ‘ell are ya doin’?” she asked as Nick went and stood by the desk and pressed the button to turn on the iMac.
“Hi, Emmy. Let me introduce myself. I’m Nick Lake.”

Welcome To Lake Ventures Welcome To New Haven Book 2 edition by Dawn Doyle Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I started this series a couple of days ago and could not put it down. This is Nick and Emily's book. We met them in Welcome to New Haven and I knew this was going to be a great read. Emily (or as only Nick calls her, Emmy) is feisty and distrustful of Nick because of a past bad relationship. Nick is really a sweet man who also has a past that haunts him. I loved reading them come together and work out old insecurities.
Of course this wouldn't be a Dawn Doyle book without the great sex and hotness we expect.😁 I wish we could get a book for each of the other couples, loved them too.
The story of both this book and the first one was very good. I liked how the author mixed the romance in the book with other things. (for example, Stacey!) Unfortunately, though, the punctuation and grammar was quite bad. Often, there were periods instead of commas, and lots of times there weren't commas where they needed to be. On top of this, the author mainly wrote in third person and past tense, but would sometimes switch to first person or present tense. An example of this could be "She walked over to the door and I opened it." She and I were the same person in this sentence. If you are easily aggravated by obviously bad grammar/punctuation, like me, don't read this book, or the first one, unless you can overlook that and just enjoy the story, like I had to.
I thought was very immature and reacted like a child. she is an adult but cries over nothing. WASTE OF TIME.
Great book. Wonderful read.
