Rich is one of the most inspiring poets of our time. Every word he writes has more than one meaning, strikes you like lightening, and cuddles your soul. As much as the game of chess is about war, so are Rich's words; A war of recognition, hope, despair, desire, piercing poignance, victory, defeat, rebirth and ecstasy all played on the page of life with words.
After seeing him perform live around Los Angeles (he's sorta a legend) I was really excited to dig into his book - I frequently worry that I'm soulless, but reading Rich's work wakes up whatever spiritual soul you have hiding in your cynical heart. I can't recommend this book enough, to poetry lovers or anyone who just loves beautiful prose. You never quite forget Rich.
If you’ve never had the pleasure of hearing Ferguson perform, then you’re in a woefully uninformed minority. Fortunately, now there’s 8th and Agony, a collection of the best of Ferguson’s poems that leap off the page and into the mind of the reader with the same lyrical ferocity of his aural performances. It takes the twin gifts of a bard and a writer to be able to deftly straddle the words of written and spoken word. 8th & Agony has achieved that level of mastery.
Heart & soul spilled out on the page, Rich holds nothing back. A beautiful collection from a gifted seer & powerful poet.
I very much enjoyed this book, while these words may seem arcane, I felt like a light was turned on inside this writer's soul and illuminated itself across these pages. Also I thought this book was very attractive; it was very aesthetically pleasing to my eye. I was impressed by the font, purposeful line indentions, I love its eclecticness. I definitely hope to see more works by this author.
